| Ah...Mother's Day is coming up! Already we are being
inundated with flyers and ads to buy Mom this or that special gift to pamper her on this
day just for her. I even know people who are buying a gift just to have one to give. Being a "mother" now myself, I am almost insulted by this
commercial view of my "value" and position in the lives of m;y children. I hope
they never feel that they have to buy me some kind of gift to make me feel special. I hope
I will be a mother to them, as my mother is to me. I cannot be with her this Mother's Day
due to distance, but she knows I would take her out to dinner, just her and I. BTW, we do
this even if it is not Mother's Day. That is also my point, why have a day to honor the
woman that should be honored every day for the life she gave and the things she does?
Regretfully, not everyone is as lucky as I am with their Mom, so I
guess Mother's Day does have it's advantages! It is a good day to forget old differences,
and instead of buying "something", just take her to breakfast and talk, go for a
walk, let her see the grand kids (if there are any) play in the park. Take some time to
understand each other.
Enjoy these stories of Moms .... Lucy tells how she finally
understands her mother, I do the same, and I have tried to write the right words to
describe a very emotional day in my life, my BlessingWay.
Wishing all the mothers out there a beautiful Mother's Day,
including mine :).
